Teaching children about money is vitally important. It is really important that we do so because it is not something that is currently being taught adequately in our school system. Financial literacy in areas such as budgeting, saving, spending wisely and using credit carefully are all much needed life skills that we need to flourish in our life. Starting children early is wise so that they have the ability be successful by the time they have reached adulthood.

Thinking of Others says:

….Thank you both ,,this was very enjoyable and wise to make for us …I liked that both of you did the review because of the young people watching …..I do think Mothers and Fathers should take the time and talk to their children about money and spending wisely and make it enjoyable for the children…Once again THANK YOU BOTH………GOD’S JOY to all your family…..

Good Video! I’m 42 years old and I like using a children’s bible to read. It makes it easier to understand.

Grub's Garden says:

Two things I would tell children about money and economics.

1. You are paid according to the value you provide a company, not some arbitrary value they choose. Collective “bargaining” and legal action (including increasing the mandatory minimum wage) to temporarily increase wages beyond the value those employees provide the company quickly leads to the loss of those jobs and/or companies.

2. The government doesn’t have any money. Any money it “gives” to people is first taken from other people (increasingly, from future generations via the national debt). Rewarding unproductive people with the fruits of productive people’s labour ultimately hurts everyone (think about it – it provides a disincentive for _both_ people to work and contribute to the economy).

Start them on that foundation and you can’t go much wrong.

You have brought your children up to be so polite and well mannered. I don’t have children but I have learnt a lot from you for when I do. Thanks FGG, your advice as always is really appreciated.

Will your girls have the option to go to college if they choose to? If I remember correctly you nor your husband went to college I think I remember you talking about the expense of going to college and the fact you would have to have student loans? Correct me if I am wrong. Also the home school program you teach at home is it a credited program that will get them into college if that’s what they choose to do? I know their are a lot of home school programs that don’t have what they need to get them into a good college. I was just wondering about how you feel about them furthering their education later in life and will you and your husband help with that expense should they need it?

What are your thoughts on Dave Ramsey and Rachel Cruze’s book, “Smart Money, Smart Kids”? I’d be interested in your viewpoint.

Heather Bauer says:

Great video, I like how you highlighted books and not just videos go learn about money. Also, you do an excellent job in your own lives and how you live that your children see that- you live by example.

Abundance says:

Nice! So great that she read all those books! Awesome job FGG!

karen catalano says:

I’m 62 and I wish my parents had taught me about budgeting then I could have taught my kids. And I may not be so tight on money now
