I don’t know if any of his other books are like this, but you should definitely check out Michael Crichton’s book “Timeline,” which has a crazy 4 page long bibliography of citations. Though it might not exactly fall under popular science and would fit better under historical fiction, I was amazed by the sheer number of works he consulted in writing his quantum/historical tale.
