It’s time to dive into another book from the SciFi Fantasy and Weird List! It’s time for the earliest book written by a woman author on the SciFi Fantasy Werid Fiction list, and it’s a utopic novel also known for being feminist science fiction.
I do a spoiler-free review, but also go into a deeper discussion for those that have read the book.
Spoiler/Deeper discussion begins at 11:35.

I really liked Herland (and wish I could live there. sigh). It _was_ a little dry but you have to look at it in context – this is a feminist manifesto first, and novel second. It is strange how the book become known as a science fiction since there is very little futuristic technology or scifi references in Herland.
Speaking of a feminist manifesto, while some of the ideas have certainly shown their age, many remain relevant. This is the kind of feminism the world needs today. I fear Gilman would be shocked to see the state of feminism as it is now. Especially for the constant push for carefree sex which does little to empower women.
Anyway good review. Not many YouTubers out there bothered to cover this book but it is nice that someone did.
Can someone explain to me something? I’m supposed to write s book report on this and the directions are to pick one of the books in this trilogy. Is there 3 separate books in this novel?
