I loved this science fiction novella! #withcaptions

This review was somehow gorgeous….which is a weird way to describe a review- but that picture was so exotic, combined with the planet details and the math element…just sounds perfect. I also like the novella length, so I’m much more likely to get to it by the end of the year. I feel a little slumpy on larger books at the moment for whatever odd reason! Thanks for bringing this to my attention:-)
I have this on the TBR list, but undecided whether to ‘read’ or audio-book it? I heard a ‘sample’ and liked it.
Good review Rachel! Glad you liked it so much. I enjoyed it too.
I read Lagoon last week and despite having some issues with it I will still happily read more by her in the future. This sounds like a good candidate. It’s good to see equality fully integrated too, as it should be. Good review yet again Rachel.
There is always pragmatism in Okorafor’s works. She explores rich cultures of Africa as a part of plot and her characters (women, especially) are intelligent, of science and wonderfully grounded. Good review. I will definitely pick this one up. Thank you!
I love this review. <3 100% agree. I also definitely want to check out Lagoon and more.
I also noticed from your “about” section that you’re also a Tamora Pierce fan, which is great because one of my most recent searches is “authors like Tamora Pierce.” Any chance you have a few recommendations to send my way? Thanks in advance!
I just finished reading Binti and immediately went looking for a review to scratch that itch to have a conversation with someone about a book you love. This was so much better than I could have hoped for; your review was so comprehensive and loving, I’m going to send it to anyone who still needs convincing to give it read. Definitely subscribing!
Wonderful review, Rachel! I really really enjoyed Lagoon when I read it, so I’m definitely going to add Binti to the pile! I love that Okorafor isn’t afraid to have powerful women strong in the math and sciences leading her books!
Binti truly is the best novella of the year. There’s just no way anything could be better than this. Lagoon I thought was okay but this hit me so hard with each aspect of it’s story. The culture, the fiction, the message. You sum up the story so well that I don’t even think I can do a review now. I’ll just point everyone here.
This is the next novella in the tor.com line I have to read. Good to see your positive review, gives me a good impression going into it 🙂
