Karl Marx remains deeply important today not as the man who told us what to replace capitalism with, but as someone who brilliantly pointed out certain of its problems. The School of Life, a pro-Capitalist institution, takes a look. If you like our films, take a look at our shop (we ship worldwide): https://goo.gl/O1tWri

“Most people agree that we need to improve our economic system somehow. It threatens our planet through excessive consumption, distracts us with irrelevant advertising, leaves people hungry and without healthcare, and fuels unnecessary wars. Yet we’re also often keen to dismiss the ideas of its most famous and ambitious critic, Karl Marx. This isn’t very surprising. In practice, his political and economic ideas have been used to design disastrously planned economies and nasty dictatorships. Frankly, the remedies Marx proposed for the ills of the world now sound a bit demented. He thought we should abolish private property. People should not be allowed to own things. At certain moments one can sympathise. But it’s like wanting to ban gossip or forbid watching television. It’s going to war with human behaviour. And Marx believed the world would be put to rights by a dictatorship of the proletariat; which does not mean anything much today. Openly Marxist parties received a total of only 1,685 votes in the 2010 UK general election, out of the nearly 40 million ballots cast…”

CanterlotCrusader says:

Eh, I find your assertion that his vision of paradise is comparable to Jesus to be overblown.

Ryan Hoffman says:

Marxism is a collective ideology. Capitalism is individual ideology. There is no incentive for better service. Competition is to push to make better. If you don’t work you die young, depressed, and fat. Marxism puts people in categories. Capitalism is individual ideology, and every individual is unique and special.

A Youtube Account says:

The fact that 50 thousand people agree with this scares me…

Fabio chora mais seu bosta cuzao Bolsonaro 2018 says:

teoria desse velho nada mais é de que pura hipocrisia

Taylor G says:

This was perfectly described so….can someone explain the 10k dislikes almost? Uneducated folks perhaps? Awesome video!!

The Ultimate Reductionist says:

Either NO government NO laws should exist. COMPLETE anarchy. That means NO military NO police. Go fight your own wars with whomever you want. Go solve your own crimes.
OR, we have total logically consistent Marxism /Socialist /Communist laws to benefit EVERYBODY EQUALLY,
and NOT just a tiny 0.1% or just half the population lucky enough to get jobs in big government (CIA, NSA, DEA, etc)

Sheepski says:

“We should all be marxists”.
No, thank you.

Marx should have died at birth

Law Dennis says:

Kratos Barbaros says:

Fuck karl marx from Poland we love our capitalism 🙂

creamy meme the meme godx12 says:

Marxism seems borring and lame. I want to be rewarded for working. I want more for doing more. I don’t want the guy next to me doing less and getting the same as I do. That’s worthless. Nothing has worth in communism and Marxism, not even life.

The Ultimate Reductionist says:

ALL wild utopian and unrealistic assumptions is done by capitalist thinking. Capitalists are not realistic. That is why they ALWAYS end up crying for GOVERNMENT to FORCE POLICE and PRISONS onto people.

steiner333 says:

This is a misuse of the term primitive accumulation, which is not surplus value per se, but the first non-market source of capital accumulation

Old Beech says:

“Human beings are born with different capacities, if they are free they are not equal. If they are equal they are not free.”

Pedro Cortes says:

to all of those who claim communism is bad, i can see why you say that. The record on communist regimes as been terrible. But that’s exactly the point of this video. The human nature is corrosive to itself, people will commit attrocities to gain more power. Economical, political, military power, it’s all the same. The same ones who rised from the hearth of the working classes and intelectual elites, put their own people to misery, and starvation, leading to millions of deaths. They only used what Marx wrote to gain power. But how could you defend a system where most of the population works their entire lifes, and gets no benefits of what they produce?
It’s simply insane how people will fight a system that puts them at center stage.
Capitalism didn’t created cures or advances for all mankind, it only made them for profit. That’s why i have such high esteem for people who discovers/creates something great, and makes it accesible for all who want to keep developing a brighter future for all mankind.

Brady M says:

These are just your opinions… You reference Marx’s words like 3 times…

Dallas More says:

One of the major problems with communism is that rather than apply equally to all, some are more equal than others. You always end up with a privileged fantastically wealthy authoritarian murderous ruling class, meanwhile everyone else starves or works themselves to death! Capitalism ìs not perfect (and thats a good thing because there’s nothing more boring than perfection) but it is by far the best and most natural system yet invented. I’ve seen communism up close and personal and it is inherently evil and bad! People have no drive, no incentive, no ambition, no pride, no sense of your own value, no pride in ownership, no sense of accomplishment!
Example: you need to fix a pothole, communists send out a work party of 20, while 1 guy shovels asphalt into the hole and tamps it down, 19 guys lounge around smoking, drinking coffee, bsing, nobody cares about quality or timeliness and everybody gets paid the same! So, fixing the pothole took a long time, took 20 laborers to do the
work of 1 thus cost 19x as much in labor, and in the end you get
a shitty product and nobody cares.

W says:

Crowder freaking destroyed y’all

AK47 Eason says:

Capitalism is good it’s what drives things no one builds something to just give it away money is what drives life

Mike Camire says:

And who gets to decide who gets leisure time and who has to work and why on earth would I work if I can just join the leisure group and do nothing all day? I don’t believe you can have true freedom with socialism or communism. I am an individual, and I have the right to chose my own path and to the things I create.

sxdncss says:

it will be so much better if the world turned communist-anarchist and we would kick out those gluttonous capitalists and show them what it’s like to not have a loaf of bread at home and being grossly undervalued and exploited.

CyberspacedLoner says:

Capitalism is the Strongest Revolutionary Force in Human History, it reorganizes Finance/Capital, Production, Government and Society constantly to minimize costs, maximize earnings and profits, but its largest failures are its very Unequal Distribution of Wealth and Cannibalization of Production, Government and Society, it undermines it self, it hollows out its host from within until it Collapses the Economy, Government, Society and the Environment upon on which it Depends, the System of Capitalism will eventually result in the Extinction of Mankind.

Joseph Stalin says:

autistic screeching intensifies

MacKa AlpaCa says:

I don’t hate all of the ideas, Problems I see is with Capitalism you have many Corrupt evil Kings that rise and fall. Anyone can become a King if they are wise enough.
With Communism there is one centralized power and it seems like you need to put a lot of faith in that power to be fair and Just.
Power should be scattered.

Alex Swinden says:

It does seem like a nice idea in theory but can only be accomplished by extreme authoritarianism.

The Ultimate Reductionist says:

All capitalists got their money from Marxism! From BIG GOVERNMENT!
And from the poor laborers who created all the real wealth for them.

Pradeep Gopalan says:

lovely, thanks

Terra Sancta says:

Karl Marx was terrible with money apparently

spooky raidr says:

difference between the creator of communism and capitalism is that the communist creator had a degree In law and philosophy. he could speak multiple languages and for his era was a very smart man.
the creator of capitalism… ehhh….. not so much
