Immanuel Kant was acutely aware of living in an age when philosophy would need to supplant the role once played by religion. This helped him to arrive at his most famous concept: the ‘categorical imperative.’ If you like our films, take a look at our shop (we ship worldwide): https://goo.gl/o15jWG

FURTHER READING

“Immanuel Kant is a philosopher who tried to work out how human beings could be good and kind – outside of the exhortations and blandishments of traditional religion.
He was born in 1724 in the Baltic city of Königsberg, which at that time was part of Prussia, and now belongs to Russia (renamed Kaliningrad)…”

p3tr0114 says:

I had a Kantian thought recently. I accidentally littered and then I went to pick up the rubbish. But, then I thought the effort to pick up the rubbish was too great, greater than the harm that the litter itself would do. But, I thought I would still pick up the trash anyway. But, then I thought again; “What if I subjected this to the entire race?” Then I changed my mind and left the rubbish where it was because I would not want the whole race to be subject to that. Thanks Kant :)

I like your videos and specially your accent, but please can you speak more slowly. I have troubles grasping all the ideas you talk about. It’s not like I don’t understand the words, I do, but i need to absorb the information and make sense of it

Faried De Bruyns says:

I am enjoying this series. I only heard these names, read a bit on them. Heard their names spiced in other lectures, and read a bit to keep up. These place some of those things in perspective. At the same time, my background is in Islamic Studies, the good and the many problems there. So, this series is very helpful to me, to see more clarity next to these famous names.

Dr. Carr says:

Daniel Joseph says:

Kant’s work is unintelligible to obscure the fact that it’s fundamentally flawed, as are all materialist philosophies. Once you remove an objective moral standard, all bets are off.

Ryan Foerstner says:

But who can decide everyone’s path to personal reasonability? There cannot be one way in any case as not everyone could be happy under just one circumstance. There will always be unbalance I presume.
