VickYi's Reading Journey says:

I’m so excited for the tome topple readathon. I’d say I’m most intimidated by Brandan Sanderson’s books. I’ve had the Mistborn trilogy for about a year and haven’t started them yet.

hobbleit says:

I stopped being intimidated by books once I read Les Misérables. Once you’ve read a huge classic every other book seems tiny in comparison. The book I’m reading at the moment is over 900 pages long. It’s taken me a week to get to page 800.

CtinaLoves2Read says:

I’m intimidated by the bigger books.. I’m read slow as hell lol

Mallorey Rogers says:

Way of Kings is incredible. I put it off for forever but once I finished it I hated myself for waiting so long!!! It takes about 100 pages to fully set up the characters and the world but once it gets going OH MAN!

StuckOnStories says:

Anything Brandon Sanderson & Brent Weeks intimidates me haha. Also S. by J.J. Abrams & House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski because they’re such unique books that you almost need to investigate to understand. Still looking forward to reading all of those though 🙂

Kayleigh NicGearailt says:

Oh loads! The rest of Mistborn, Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrel, Elantris, Priory of the orange tree, Robin Hobb books to say the least!

Safina N says:

Great video!!! Happy reading to u!!

Tina Trevino says:

I started A Little Life and I felt intimidated then returned it to the library. But I picked it up a copy so I’ll give it a chance again.
Same feeling about The Secret History. I have it in e-book but when I make the font bigger, it of course makes the book longer. So I keep putting it off.
The Hearts Invisible Furies because people say it’s so amazing. I’m afraid I won’t feel the same way and I’m not a huge DNF-er myself.
GoT because of all the dang characters. I don’t have time to keep family trees.
One I haven’t even picked up yet but I’m so willing to actually pick up and read is The Priory of the Orange Tree.

izziexxx says:

As soon as you mentioned Jen Campbell I felt really happy, faves loving faves is just so wholesome.

Edit: Also, thank you for tome topple, I know any readathon is huge work and I just wanted you to know I’ve really appreciated it as someone who also finds some larger books intimidating. I’ve read some of my largest books of the last few years through your work.

Jennifer Mathis says:

Goldfinch is on my fall slate because I want to read it before the film comes out, but, yeah, it’s so massive I’ve blocked out a month for it. Priory of the Orange Tree and A Song of Ice and Fire series are my intimidators.

Julie H says:

Yessss. I’m so intimidated by so many of the big fantasy books on my TBR. I’m sure I’m going to love those books and I’ve read big fantasy books before. It doesn’t matter though I’m still intimidated even though I know all those things. Great video! – I think I’m most intimidated by The Name of the Wind and The Book Thief (because that is SO loved).

Gina G says:

A Little Life and The Goldfinch are both amazing. I will admit, I listened to both. Made it easier!

The Paper Traveler says:

Seveneves by Neal Stephenson. Sci-fi books take me longer to get through and that beast is 861 pages. Also, I have the uncut version of The Stand that is 1149 pgs. and though I REALLY want to read it,the intimidation factor is heavy!

Graydon Panzica says:

Some of the books I’m intimidated by because of their size, but want to read soon, are:
The Stand by Stephen King
Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke

Similarly, some series I want to read this year, but am intimidated by because they’re series a.k.a. multiple books:
Graceling Realm by Kristin Cashore
Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones
The Maze Runner by James Dashner
Red Rising by Pierce Brown
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
The Shadow and Bone Trilogy and Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
Monsters of Verity by Victoria Schwab

Books I’m intimidated by because of high praise (someone I care about highly recommended it and I’m scared of hating it and disappointing them):
Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie (my best friend’s favorite book)
The Stand by Stephen King
The Martian by Andy Weir
Tales of Horror by H. P. Lovecraft
Prince of Thorns trilogy by Mark Lawrence

Books I’m intimidated by because of the hype:
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
The Shadow and Bone Trilogy and Six of Crows
The Darkest Minds
An Ember in the Ashes
The Kingkiller Chronicle
Red Rising
Children of Blood and Bone
