Tangela Serls says:

I just read Becoming and it was a wonderful read. Try Stacey Abrams’ Minority Leader, too! This is a great list of amazing books, and you did a great job of including multiple genres!

Island Girl says:

60 books read! Inspirational! Making my list.

Denelle Campbell says:

T BLK says:

Eight years with Obama? Ugh not a fan of the Obama’s. You should write a book.

For someone reviewing books you need to get your terminology right – 1:56 you don’t “rent” books from a library you BORROW them. 3:34 “Braithwaite” isn’t exactly hard to pronounce if you just read it!!! 4:45 the expression is “hands down” not “hands by”… only 4mins into the video… level up sis

Crystal Sumpter says:

I dont know how these live chats work but can u put the book titles in your video down below pls

Cindy A. says:

wow this video is a holy grail for me. im trying to get back into reading and its so helpful to see book recs from another black woman (which i havent been able to find a lot of). do you have any recommendations for self help books or sexuality books written by black authors?

This is the best ‘favourite reads of 2018’ video I’ve seen so far. So many of these books are on my wishlist. I recently got a copy of The Poet X from bookdepository (paperback reader usually). And can I say you win the best hair of 2018 on booktube by a long way.

Here’s my favourite 5 books by black authors in 2018.

1. The Summer We Got Free – Mia McKenzie (5*)
2. Jam On the Vine – LaShonda Katrice Barnett (5*)
3. A Mighty Long Way: My Journey to Justice at Little Rock Central High School – Carlotta Walls LaNier (5*)
4. Nowhere Is a Place – Bernice L McFadden (5*)
5. The Hate U Give – Angie Thomas (4.5*)

Erica Easley says:

Great list!!! What lipstick are you wearing? It’s beautiful!!!

Dr27B says:

Way to come back beautiful Jourdan! I will check out most of these books but a couple I will not even touch. The agendas set in motion is enough. I, too recently started checking out audiobook from library then buy for my collection if I love it. That Gabrielle Union book, I thought was somewhat honest but filled with her excuses and sidedness. She left out a lot of stories, that she knew her audience would have appreciated. Like, I love her but, …I see her in a total different light now. I live for supernatural insights so those I will pick up. Thank you for the recommendations.

Taiah Guess says:

I just found your channel and I instantly subscribed. I’m definitely checking out some of these books.

Tochi K says:

sis, i LOVEE your book recommndations! you and your reading vids inspire me to take time to read rather than go into electronics and social media all the time! im reading if beale street could talk now 🙂
