I know you’re a booktuber but would you ever consider doing some eye makeup tutorials? I swear, your eye looks stay on point!
Wonderful video! Adding The Story Hour to my TBR 🙂 The Bear and the Nightingale was one of my favorite books I read last year, and The Girl in the Tower is probably going to turn my top 5 from this year into a top 6! The prose is so gorgeous (I just want to sink into it), and you will fall in love with all of the characters (esp. Vasya). Definitely the perfect book to read in the winter 🙂
Bartholomea / It’s a forever kind of thing. The devil sold his soul / https://www.wattpad.com/story/134876959-bartholomea
I am a total book worm!!! Also God bless you!!!! Reading helps you get through a lot in your life, good and bad!!!
Set up is much better! Love seeing the shelves 🙂
I’m so happy I found your channel! Your reading choices are so diverse, and your taste in genre is exactly what I’m looking for. I’m from Guam, so culture and diversity are very important to me, as our island is a small “melting pot,” so to speak, in the Pacific, and I love reading anything that teaches me more about people of different ethnic backgrounds and helps me expand my world view. So, I’m super excited to get my hands on The Good People, Kintu, and The Story Hour! And if time permits, I’d love to reread The Bear and the Nightingale this year.
Your recommendations are always so on point.
AHHH! I love them all! I also want to read THE SONG OF ACHILLES (gotta get ready for CIRCE 😉 ) THE GOOD PEOPLE. And Attica Locke is my new fav mystery writer. She is just SO good at what she does. <3 Happy Reading!
Ahhh! Kushiel’s Dart is one of my favorite novels EVER, but I almost never see anyone on booktube talk about it. No One Is Coming to Save Us sounds amazing.
I really liked The Song of Achilles!
THE SONG OF ACHILLES /SCREAMS FOR THE NEXT TEN YEARS/
I haven’t read any of the books you mentioned but I’m definitely interested in Kintu!
I love your top, where did you get it? =)
Great list!
You’re going to love The Song of Achilles! I need to get to reading The Good People too (but you have better excuses for not getting to it yet.) I’ve heard so many good things about Arden’s book too.
These books sound fantastic!! Thanks for joining #BookishNYE!
Thank you for this list! I have to order these! But, I ask myself when do you think you are going to have time to read all of them? I already have stacks and stacks and stacks of books to read! What a wonderful problem!
Ooh I like this set up. Love the colourful shelves in the background and your lovely self in the middle. Ive heard great things about A Kind of Freedom. I think you’ll love The Song of Achilles. One of my favourites of the last few years. The Good People is very, erm, good. Kintu sounds amazing. No One is Coming to Save Us is a book I bought this year and was desperate to read… and didn’t. We need to read Sing Unburied Sing in 2018.
I love love loved The Good People! Such beautiful writing and language, and I loved the way she took on Irish superstition with such respect. I really want to read The Bear and the Nightingale next year too.
The Bear and the Nightingale is beautiful<3 And yes, so perfect for the cold weather!
As a Greek person I find the song of Achilles to be extremely insulting.in many many levels . The story is a story of FRIENDSHIP . I grew up ( as did most Greek children )and is considered by many as the ultimate friendship and how we as people we should treat the people around us and especially as a gay man in a very homophobic country this book has caused many many problems for us this book is extra insulting. We are an extremely proud and religious country. Our myths and history is part of our daily life and the quite frankly we don’t appreciate the appropriation of it by Foreigners nor do I personally enjoy the fetishization of gay relationships . There are many many gay relationships in our mythology and the author chose in my opinion the wrong one to tell . This book also had caused problems to the greek lgbt community as it gives the homophobes the excuse of us trying to make everything gay , trying to change our history ext . So no the song of Achilles by a Greek gay man can quite frankly go fuck it self . Also the characters aren’t real yes they are part of a myth ( unlike the fall of Troy but that is a different story ) but to us our mythology is extremely important . If you have a problem with cultural appropriation and understand it’s significance then you should denounce this trash
I suggest you Mauler by Shawn Williamson to lovers of nature. It is fantastic. My students in Brazil fell in love about the story.
I’m really curious about The Song of Achilles! So many people I know have loved it. Also, I enjoyed The Bear and the Nightingale. It’s a particularly perfect read for winter! I’m planning to reread it before I jump into The Girl in the Tower. And I quite enjoyed Kushiel’s Dart, and definitely need to continue the series!
Happy reading!
My Lives with Lucifer,Satan,Hitler,Jesus …very entertaining new novel on amazon .
OMG – You need to read The Song of Achilles – its amazing! And her new book called Circe comes out this next year. I want to read that one so bad. No One is Coming to Save Us sounds amazing. Sounds like a 2018 buddy read! A Kind of Freedom sits on my shelf as well 😉 So many people have said it is amazing. Great list my friend.
Kushiel’s Dart was an absolute lifesaver for me when I was in my teenage years and Melisandre is still my top fictional crush of all time. I really hope you like it x
The Song of Achilles is on my must-read list for 2018, too! Hopefully we’ll both enjoy it! 🙂
Love your videos!
Bear and the Nightingale is so good! I read it this month and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The Cutting Season is on my list as well.
HELL YES CAMERA QUALITY AND EYE MAKEUP!!! We should buddy read The Good People because I haven’t been able to get into it yet, and I feel like it’s a book that would be worthwhile to discuss with other people (also I have that same edition)! I picked it up while I was in Ireland last summer, and I STILL haven’t gotten around to it because I’m the worst. The Impossible Fairytale sounds creepy and amazing. No One Is Coming also sounds WONDERFUL!
Your microphone is sounding pretty great! Song of Achilles is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. The writing is beautiful and I cried so hard at the end!
OMG JOCE THE QUALITY, I CANNOT.
The Song of Achilles made my heart so happy – I will forever be grateful to Adriana from PerpetualPages for the rec <3 <3
This is such a great list. The Song of Achilles is high on my 2018 TBR as well looking forward to getting to it 🙂
The fall of Troy was not historical it was mythical
Ok I’m a counseling grad student and your description of The Story Hour just sold me
First of all, I loooove your eyeshadow! <3
I've heard so many amazing things about The Song of Achilles! Really want to read it as well.
Never heard of Kushiel's Dart before, but it sounds really interesting!
Hopefully you'll get to read all of these books!
Happy new year! x
