I gave this book 3.5 stars – I really enjoyed reading it, but about half way through the novel focused primarily on the political and governmental impacts of something like “Carl” occurring – which yeah, that would be HUGE and a political nightmare potentially. So it was relevant but with that shift the novel lost sight of April’s character and her struggles. The best written parts of the book were April’s parts, and as those took a backseat, so did my love for the story. In the end though I did still enjoy this read, and I do hope that there is a sequel as the ending of this book definitely leaves an opening for one, and I would love to get more of the characters in the story!
