Thank you so much for the list. I’ll get to reading them now.

Mwa Ka says:

Thank you,for honoring Black History month. Well done darling.

Anna Alindajao says:

Loved this so much— I celebrated BH month this year in my middle school library. Pulled every author and book I have and encouraged my 700+ students to read about the various authors, artists, poets, athletes, entertainers, activists, world changers. For my personal reading, I’ve been so enjoying Maya Angelou’s autobiographies, and biographies of MLK, Thurgood Marshall. Have yet to read James Baldwin but def plan to thanks to your many glowing reviews of him. ❤️

Breeze says:

Love this channel. I feel like every time black authors are discussed, these same books are reviewed.

Black men wrote books too

Do you have a Goodreads?

I read Sula this month, my first of Toni Morrison’s novels. I immediately sought out a few more of her books and literally just recieved The Bluest Eye from Thriftbooks as I clicked on this video. I can’t wait to dive into it.

Danielle Lacey says:

Great list. I do appreciate the blurb about “The Bluest Eye,” but I honestly don’t think I could read/enjoy a book with a first-person POV of a rapist.

If you do anything for women’s history month, I would love to learn more about Ann Petry’s “The Street.” I finished it last year and wanted to see what others thought, but I think it’s still pretty unknown. I’ve noticed lately, though, that there has been some growing interest in it, as it was the first book by a black woman to sell more than 1 million copies.

Great video!

Japoleczka says:

Very inspiring! I read Toni Morrison and Alice Walker but will also add the other titles to my tbr. And just a couple of weeks ago I read ‘The Water Is Wide’ by Pat Conroy who’s not black but that’s a kind of memoir from the time when he was a white teacher in a remote village. All the people were black, very poor, badly treated by government and local authorities, isolated by living on a small island. Fascinating and a great read for anybody who does not necesserly need to read recent releases only. Thank you for another informative video, I love your clear analytic reviews.

Sandra Reiss says:

I would strongly suggest reading Native Son by Richard Wright one of the best books I’ve ever read.

Christopher Paul says:

I also loved Dust Tracks on a Road!

Comfycozyup says:

Great list!
